Generally speaking...
Hootville Fireside Chats are informal gatherings of NFP communications folk (and some private sector blow ins) who discuss a topic of mutual interest with some experts. Meet your peers and some new ideas in under two hours.
Savvy 101 workshops are intense half day workshops with a small group. Savvy workshops come with significant notes, telephone follow up and are aimed at imparting skills and knowledge.
We run public Media Savvy 101, Online Savvy 101 and Savvy Spokesperson 101workshops. Alternatively many organisations book private sessions for their staff at a time and place to suit . You should too.
To receive details on upcoming events subscribe to the Hootville Lowdown.

Fireside Chats raise funds for the KEEP schools of India. All proceeds go to KEEP.

About KEEP
The Kaigal Education and Environment Program (KEEP) schools are in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.
Hootville has funded a new school building and scholarships for 14 kids.
The five KEEP schools offer education and a square meal for children of the region's tribal people. The one-room, all-ages, co-ed schools (above) are funded by the Krishnamurti Foundation.
These people have never before been offered any formal education. Think about that for a minute.
While the schooling is appreciated, few kids continue school past 13 or 14yo. Girls often cease education at 11yo to work on family farms and are married a year or two later. Think about that a minute.
All money raised will be used to keep these kids at school.

Hootville's Brett de Hoedt volunteered at KEEP in 2008: "These kids live three hours from the IT hub of Bangalore and the swish hotels of Chennai but they are in another country, another era. So we decided to quite literally buy them an education."
Families in this region live on a dollar or two a day, so we think it's realistic that we can financially motivate them to keep their children at school.
If you simply want to make a donation, you are most welcome. If everyone reading this who wasn't removed from school by their family at the age of 12 gives $30 we'll be sorted.
Visit the Keep site.
Email us your donation or call: 03 9017 1062.
