E-News

The Hootville Lowdown is our eNewsletter. A couple of thousand communications people subscribe – mainly from the NFP communications, marketing, PR, membership and fundraising world. Smart people, every one of them who learn about relevant jobs, events, opportunities and opinion. Be like them.
Jobs, news and events for PR people.

Our jobs are listed only in the Lowdown.

Each edition of the Hootville Lowdown has content not published on our website, Twitter or Facebook. Read PR-related stories from the New York Times, Marketing Experiment Blog and other sources you’re too busy doing real to scan for yourself. See examples of what to do and not to do from everyday examples. Benefit from our nerdiness and insomnia.

The Hootville Lowdown features contributions from Squiggle, a wire haired dachshund who is also Australia’s leading canine commentator. That’s right, we said leading.

Communications professionals don’t get the ongoing professional development they deserve and many work in isolation. The Lowdown is built from the ground up to provide practical advice to enable you to do your job smarter and better. We invest 11 years of experience in the business into each edition. We handle everything from search engine optimisation tips, copywriting advice, details on new opportunities for media coverage to wise words on building your databases.

Hootville's marketing advice in newsletter form

Be captivated by striking images and witty captions.

The Hootville Lowdown also features PR bloopers from around the world. And you know what – that’s the stuff that gets clicked the most. You people should grow up.

We know that many subscribers – who we declare to be Citizens of Hootville – share the Lowdown with their colleagues. Great.

We send out a Lowdown every few weeks or so. We resend 24-48 hours later to subscribers who didn’t open the first send.  We recommend you subscribe twice with different email addresses to avoid spam filters or losing touch when you change jobs due to your employer not recognising your obvious talents.

We’re proud of your feedback – how many eNewsletters get raves like this?
